In some application domains, repairing relics, joining broken bones in medical surgery, etc., reassembly of fragmented objects is required. Intensive researches were conducted to reconstruct 3D virtual or physical full prototype models as 3D references for supporting the repairing or reassembling process. However, very little attention was paid to the reassembly sequence and operation. To obtain a good reassembly result as well as to reduce damage risk and save assembly time, the reassembly sequence and the assembly practice should be studied. Based on this point, this paper proposes an integrated method which uses both virtual and physical prototyping techs with allied tools for solving the reassembly problem with higher efficiency and better quality. A part of the implementation work with developed algorithm is presented to show the potentials of the proposed method.
